What are wordpress Posts?
Well, it is very simple. When I say wordpress posts, I am actually talking about articles that are published on a wordpress blog. So, wordpress posts are wordpress articles, yes. Your are going to learn how to create posts in wordpress
These articles in question may contain a combination of text files, media files, internal and external links, etc. For example, this article you are reading is an example of wordpress post.
The second thing to talk about is how to create posts in wordpress, I will talk about it below.
How To Create Posts In Worpress
Kindly follow the below steps to successfully create and publish a post in WordPress.
Step 1: The very first thing to do is to find your way to the dashboard of your wordpress blog through the wordpress admin login url. I had already published an article on it already and you can read through it here.
Step 2: After you have successfully logged into your dashboard, the next thing to do is to navigate to the menu bar by the left hand side of your dashboard, locate and highlight “posts” button, click on “Add new” from the list of options as in the below screenshot.
Step 3: You will the be provided with a new interface where you will create your wordpress posts, carry out all your content creation and editing You may refer to the below screenshot. This interface contains A title bar, where you will write the title of the post or article you are creating, it contains a body section where your main content will be contained.
The body section is designed in such a way that when you write a certain amount of text, you can press the enter button from the keyboard to start writing in a new paragraph. So, you should always press the enter button when you have written a certain amount of lines of text. This will help your articles to be well organized, you can use this particular post as a case study.
Step 4: After Writing the post title, the next thing you should do is to assign a category to your post and to add tag to your post too while your cursor is still on the post title bar. You can select a category by navigating to the section for categories, It is located by the right hand pane on the page you are writing your post. Click on it and select the desired category from the list of categories. Check the below image.
Step 5: To Add tag to your post, Locate the tag button immediately below the categories’ button. Click on it and type different keywords that are related to the post or article you are writing, each of the keywords must be separated with a comma.
Step 6: The next step is to add featured image. featured image button is located immediately below the tags’ button by the same right hand pane. Just click on it and upload the photo you intend to use as your featured image.
Step 7: Immediately you click on the featured image button, you will see an option to either select already uploaded photos in your media library or to upload from your computer. You should know where the intended image is saved, just select any option that fits the location and continue.
Step 8: At this juncture, you have selected the relevant options for your post. you can the go on to start writing your article in the body section or copy and paste your article in the body section if you had already written it in a word document or somewhere else.
Step 9: After writing your article, you should go ahead and format your texts and insert images where necessary.
To format any paragraph or any line of text in your post, just click on the block and the formatting options will appear.
The first option by the extreme left of the formatting tool bar has the paragraph icon. The button will enable you to switch between paragraph, heading, etc. Just click on it to see the list of options.
The second option will enable you to align text to left, center or right.
The third option “B” is to make a line of text bold. Just highlight the text you want to make bold and click on the “B” button. The text will become bold immediately.
The fourth option is to make your text to be in italics form. What I mean is that it will make your text to be in slanting form. Just highlight the text you want to be in italics and click the “I” button.
The fifth tool is to add link to your post. just click on it and paste the link you want to add in the box provided.
The sixth tool, that is the arrow icon will bring out some other hidden options which includes the options in the image below. Just highlight the text you want to format and click on any desired option from the list.
The seventh tool, that is the icon with 3 dots will further bring out additional options as in the below image. The options are self explanatory. just select and use any desired feature from the list.
Step 10: This step is to help you add images anywhere inside your post. Just click on the block where you want to create image, then click on the icon with plus sign and a circle around it which is located at the upper left hand side of the page where you are writing your post.
This icon will bring out several options, then click on the image icon from the list, which will enable you to upload image to that position in your post. Just check the below screenshot.
After you have clicked on the image, You will see an option to upload an image from your computer, select an image from your media library or insert an image from a URL. Just select the option that best describes the location of the image you want to use in the post
